CHILDHOOD IS OVERRATED

In Spring 2019, my friend, poet and performer Bob Laine, asked me to create a few drawings to illustrate a live reading of his poem “Childhood Is Overrated.” The piece was created for Necromancers of the Public Domain, a unique performance event created by NYC’s Theater of the Apes, in which writers and other artist-types respond to the same public-domain work - in this case, “Childhood” by Alice Meynell (1913). Bob chose to write about some of the more painful incidents of his own childhood, which I took sadistic delight in depicting, because I am a bad person.
